Dan Burgette

I have always been attracted by the beauty seen and heard in the natural world.  I am thrilled by charismatic megafauna – caribou on the tundra or a tolerant grizzly bear.  But my most frequent uplifting encounters are with birds. Their songs and colors enhance the natural world.  What enlivens a static landscape the most, however, is their movement. I have been trying to capture the illusion of movement through sculpture for decades.  Although I have chosen calm birds and mammals as subjects, I keep returning to moving birds. My journey as an artist has been led by birds soaring , diving and mastering the air currents that support them.  My journey toward understanding how birds and art enhance the quality of my life continues.
